has studied classical voice for eight years. In the summers of 2017 and 2019, Ms. Hendzel was selected to attend the Young Artist Vocal Program at Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI). While attending the Washington National Opera (WNO) Opera Institute in 2018, Nicolle was given the opportunity to sing in Susanna in the scene “Canzonetta sull'aria” from Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center. Ms. Hendzel was also offered to sing in the WNO Opera Institute Concert on Capitol Hill after completing the program. In the same year, Nicolle placed 2nd in the upper high school women’s category at the Maryland State NATS competition.
In July 2021, Ms. Hendzel sang the role of Giunia (cover) in the cover run of Mozart’s Lucio Silla at Chicago Summer Opera (CSO). Nicolle debuted her first role as Susanna in Stanford University’s shortened production of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and presented her junior recital both in April 2022. This past summer, Ms. Hendzel attended The CoOPERAtive Program at Rider University and returned to CSO to sing the role of Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea.
At the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year, Ms. Hendzel had the opportunity to produce, direct, and sing Rosalinde in Stanford Light Opera Company’s student-run production of Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, an opportunity that created learning experiences for young singers and attempted to frame opera as a popular and engaging experience for younger populations in the local Stanford and Palo Alto community,
Nicolle double majored in Voice Performance (Music) and International Relations at Stanford University. Ms. Hendzel currently coaches with Mary Pinto and studies voice privately with Colin Levin.
